The South African rider won the first of the two Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup races at Estoril on Saturday.
The three Repsol Honda’s will start tomorrow’s bwin Grande Prémio de Portugal from the front two rows of the grid in Estoril. Dani Pedrosa will start on the front row in third, with Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso starting in fourth and sixth on the second row.
Colin Edwards produced his best qualifying performance of the 2011 MotoGP World Championship in Estoril for tomorrow’s bwin Grande Prémio de Portugal with seventh place on the grid. His Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team mate Cal Crutchlow equalled his best qualifying result of his rookie campaign after setting the eighth quickest time in this afternoon’s session.
Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing) took his first pole position of the season for the bwin Grande Prémio de Portugal after Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) had looked the likely pole sitter until a late crash. Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa took the last spot on the front row.
