DirecTV has some serious splainin’ to do. It all seemed to start on Saturday morning. I was watching TV and every now and again the screen would go black for a second and then the picture would come back. I didn’t think that much of it until Sunday when I was home all day and was all set to watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Price Chopper 400 presented by Kraft Foods that I noticed this problem hadn’t gone away.

NASCAR recently announced that the two most pivotal races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule will once again be held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  The LENOX Industrial Tools 301 on Sunday, June 27 will begin the 10 event “Race to Chase.”  The SYLVANIA 300 on Sunday, September 19 will begin the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.” Since the inception of the “Chase” format, the speedway has always hosted the opening round of NASCAR’s playoffs.

My weekend started early as I rode up to Otsego, Michigan on Thursday to judge the Davidson Express Fall Bike Show . There I met and stayed with two super people, Nancy and Larry Davidson. On Thursday evening we rode to an airport for a photo shoot involving Larry’s son’s 1947 Aeronca Champ taildragger and 18 Shovelheads. I hadn’t ridden with so many Shovels since I bought the 1988 Evo that I still ride. After that we rode to a gentleman’s house where riders in the area traditionally converge on Thursday nights.

A full decade and a few days ago, my father and I were participants in what was likely the most insane vintage car event we had ever done, before or since. It was the 1999 Cannonball Classic. A week of crazy cars and crazy people, traversing the continent. We drove the 65E, and it ran great for the first three days… then a host of small issues eventually brought us to a grinding halt just over 100 miles form the finish in Los Angeles.

Motorcycle jeans are all the rage right now and no one’s doing them better than Vintage1. Monica attended an event in LA a few weeks ago rocking the Vintage1 Struction Ripped Motorcycle jeans ($225) and looked cool as ever we might add. The motorcycle jean trend is fairly new and adds the typical detailing (heavy stitching around the knees) from real motorcycle pants to our beloved jeans. There were altogether 19 vehicles, including a 1968 Java motorcycle taking part in this event, which is the third that the AWNE had organized, bringing together vintage and classic car enthusiasts from the Northeast.
